About the Role 

Lobyco is a fast-growing SaaS company providing digital loyalty programmes to major retailers globally. As we scale our platform and customer base, we are looking for a Principal Architect to lead our architectural strategy and ensure that what we build today can carry us confidently into the future. 

This is a leadership role that blends strategic direction with hands-on technical execution. You will lead our team of architects, define the standards and patterns that guide how we build and evolve our multi-tenant SaaS platform, and work closely with the CTO, architects, and engineering leadership to align architecture with business goals. 

We expect our Principal Architect to also be close to the teams, and passionate about building great software that retailers and their customers rely on every day. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Own and evolve the overall architecture of Lobyco’s multi-tenant SaaS platform. 
• Lead and mentor our team of architects and engineers across platform strategy, product engineering, and delivery, setting a high bar for technical thinking and design quality. 
• Define and maintain architectural standards and principles, patterns, and best practices across all engineering teams, balancing consistency with autonomy. 
• Guide and drive strategic decisions around scalability, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency as the platform grows in tenants, data volume, and feature complexity. 
• Articulate architectural vision and decisions clearly to engineers and executive leadership. 
• Collaborate closely with the VPs of Product and Delivery to ensure architecture lends itself well to secure, reliable, and efficient operations. 
• Champion cloud-native engineering practices, platform thinking, and a strong engineering culture across the business 
• Work with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure the platform meets enterprise-grade requirements for our retail customers. 

Requirements 

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior architectural or technical leadership role. 
• Proven track record of architecting and scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms. 
• Ability to connect architectural decisions to business strategy and customer demands. 
• Experience working in a B2B SaaS context with high data volumes and complex enterprise customer integrations. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience leading teams of principal engineers, with the ability to coach, challenge, and grow technical talent. 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly for a broad audience including non-technical stakeholders. 
• Fluent English, both speaking and writing. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience in retail or loyalty technology. 
• Familiarity with platform engineering and developer experience initiatives.
