Right now, we are looking for a skilled Commodity Insights Consultant to join our Commodity Insights team.
Today, the team consists of two colleagues based in Copenhagen. We analyse major global commodity markets and FMCG cost structures to provide our procurement team with the best possible insight into the market. The goal of this work is simple: to ensure that our partners and consumers have access to the right quality products at the right price.
Our days are full of variety, where we can go from focusing on oat prices to toilet paper cost structures, and then from crude oil dynamics to fruit harvests in South America. To challenge ourselves and incorporate different viewpoints we priorities open dialogue in our team and across departments.
Our team operates with a high level of self-management and specialization within our area of expertise, continuously pushing ourselves and our colleagues to unlock deeper insights into markets and cost structures.
Your role as a member of the team
As a Commodity Insights Consultant, you will challenge the status quo through your knowledge and collaborative mindset, providing valuable analyses, insights and advice to our buyers on commodity price developments to ensure competitive prices.
You will work with a wide range of raw materials, as our portfolio of private label products covers everything from salmon to oatmeal and from cheese to toilet paper.
This is a highly self-managing role suited for a person who takes initiative, has a high level of ownership, thrives on challenging close stakeholders and is motivated by seeing their results implemented. Part of the role is also being part of projects with focus on developing our capabilities within pricing excellence and/or market insights.
Your primary tasks:
• Analysis and monitoring of the commodity market and providing recommendations
• Preparation of decision support for our buyers - including sparring with buyers about purchase times, contract lengths, etc.
• Participating as support for buyers on supplier meetings and on bi-weekly sourcing pricing meetings
• Validate prices and price changes from our suppliers in cooperation with buyers
• Development and maintenance of commodity models and factor price modelling to support buyers in their negotiations as well as development of cost avoidance and risk management strategies
Your professional qualifications:
• Higher education e.g. Master of Science in Economics (cand.merc. or cand.oecon). or other economic background
• Minimum of 2-3+ years of experience within commodities analysis
• Structured, analytical and methodical
• Can convey complex knowledge to all levels of the organisation and present this in a simple and understandable way
• Experienced in Excel
• High level in English, written and oral
• Experience within FMCG is an advantage, possibly from the supplier side, but not a prerequisite
